Ethan Schwartz
Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist
Welcome. I provide counseling to individuals looking to optimize their lives and develop a sense of contentment, satisfaction, and well being. I specialize in providing goal directed counseling and therapy that harnesses resources and resiliencies as a means of overcoming challenges, successfully adapting to life transitions, and making your preferred future your reality.
My Approach
Collaborative, Positive, Strength-Based Change
My work involves collaborating with individuals on their own personal recipes for life satisfaction. I help clients identify what their lives will look like when the "problem" is no longer a problem. I try to carefully separate the "problem" from the person, who is often doing the best he or she can, so we can identify strengths, resiliencies, and resources that allow clients to construct a life worth living. This does not mean ignoring difficult issues or painful areas, but it is important to know at the outset how we will know therapy has been successful. I tend to work in a time sensitive format that prioritizes mutually agreed upon goals that we can reference along the way to know if we are making progress. I also do longer term work on longer term issues or situations that are ongoing if that is what the client is seeking and needs. I draw upon solution oriented, narrative, cognitive, and mindfulness techniques and tools that harness the power of the therapeutic conversation to unearth and develop abilities and skills that allow us to reauthor our own stories with real world changes.
